Peoria, IL... State Representative David Leitch (R-Peoria) today is being honored with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce's Champion of Free Enterprise Award. Rep. Leitch is being recognized for his long-standing leadership and commitment to the promotion of free enterprise.
"The number one priority of state government during this economic downturn must be job creation. One in ten Illinoisans are out of work. If we ever hope to get our state fiscal condition back on track we need to get residents working again. I support legislative initiatives that will make Illinois more-friendly to business and ultimately create new jobs," said Leitch. "I am honored to be recognized by the chamber for my efforts towards that goal."
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce Champion of Free Enterprise Award is awarded biennially and recipients are selected by their voting record. The Champion of Free Enterprise Award is presented to legislators with Illinois Chamber ratings averaging 85% or better over the previous three General Assemblies. The Chamber's ratings are based on votes on key business legislation that are designed to generate jobs and create a business-friendly atmosphere in Illinois.
"The chamber believes that legislators who work hard to defend free enterprise and to advance economic opportunities for Illinoisans deserve our recognition," said Todd Maisch, the Chamber's Vice President for Government Affairs. "The Champion of Free Enterprise Award demonstrates that State Representative David Leitch knows what it takes for employers to be successful and that he is working to address the number one problem in our state: creating more jobs."
